Victim Notification Program

The goal of the 4th Judicial District Probation Department is to assure victims of crime are treated with fairness, respect, and dignity throughout the probation supervision of the offender.  We recognize victims, their families, and communities are important recipients of our services and have the right to be heard throughout the criminal justice process.

If a victim requests participation in the Victim Notification Program, the Victim Services Officer will provide notification of vital stages in the supervision of the offender and offer assistance with safety planning, obtaining protection orders, answering restitution questions, completion of the Victim Impact Statement, applying for Victim Compensation, and referrals to community based service providers.

To request participation in the El Paso and Teller County Probation Department Victim Notification Program, please contact the Victim Services Officer, Jayson Murphy at 719-452-5783, jayson.murphy@judicial.state.co.us, or in writing at 270 S. Tejon Street, Suite W200 Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers have been a valuable part of the 4th Judicial District Probation Department’s team for over 35 years.  By utilizing the energy and strengths of our volunteers, we are able to enhance and expand the programs available to probationers, victims, and the community. Whether you are seeking an internship for college credit, or aspiring to gain experience in the criminal justice field, we encourage you to contact us.

Volunteers learn by doing and receive training from our highly qualified probation officers and supervisors.  They often manage their own caseloads of low-risk probationers and are assigned a variety of important duties.  If you would like more information and are interested in being a part of our growing and dynamic team, please contact either of our Directors of Volunteer Services:
