Please note, we DO NOT process juror postponements or disqualifications by phone. All requests must be made in writing.

We require a date be provided where you can commit to attend on a Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays), and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred date. Postponement requests must be made 5 business days prior to your appearance date. We will only contact you if your request is not granted.

For any medical (including breastfeeding) or caregiving exemptions, a note from a licensed medical professional specifically stating the juror cannot perform jury duty for medical reasons is required. Medical statements can be sent to the jury office via mail, email, or fax (970-549-9647).
There are no economic, age-related, or occupational exclusions from jury service. Students (including those attending school out-of-state) are not disqualified from jury service if their home of record is Mesa County. Please see postponement option above and provide dates when the student is home from school to complete their service.
If you do not meet any of criteria on the summons to be disqualified from jury service but still wish to be excused and your juror # is required to report, you will have the opportunity the day of your service to speak with the Judge and parties and they will consider your hardship during the selection process.

Please be prompt. Please complete the questionnaire on the back of your summons and bring it with you when you report. You will be reporting to the Mesa County Justice Center located at 125 North Spruce Street. The jury assembly room is on the third floor. Please park in Lot B at the corner of Spruce and Main. This parking lot is located on the South side of the building. Do not park in the numbered employee parking lot to the North of the building, the Sheriff Department parking lot, or at a meter. If you are riding the Grand Valley Transit bus, you may ride for free by showing the bus driver your jury summons. Since you must pass through a metal detector to enter the Justice Center, please do not bring any scissors, knives, mace, etc. with you. Do not bring newspapers OR children with you to jury service.
A vending machine is located in the Jury Assembly Room, however, you may not eat in the courtroom and you may only drink water in the courtroom so plan accordingly for that. There will be no magazines so you may want bring your own reading material; laptops are allowed, however, reading material and laptops may only be used while you are not in the courtroom.
What if I missed my appearance date?
If you think you missed your appearance date but aren't sure if your juror # was called, you can check the previous 4 weeks reporting information found below. If your juror # was excused and not required to report, nothing further is needed.
If your juror # was called to report, you may call 970-257-3650 to leave a message OR email mesajury@judicial.state.co.us and provide an alternate date that falls on a Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays) within 6 weeks you can attend to make up your missed service.
