20th Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission to hold public input hearing

Friday, April 12, 2024, Boulder, CO – The 20th Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission will hold a public hearing on April 24, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Courtroom F at the Boulder County Justice Center, 1777 Sixth Street, Boulder, CO 80302, to receive public comments on 20th Judicial District judges eligible for retention in the 2024 general election.  The 20thJudicial District (Boulder County) judges who will come before the voters for retention in office in November this year are District Court Judge J. Keith Collins, District Court Judge Robert R. Gunning, District Court Judge Dea M. Lindsey, District Court Judge Thomas F. Mulvahill, and County Court Judge Jonathan P. Martin.  

State law requires the Judicial Performance Commission to evaluate the performance of the judges and provide voters with a ‘Meets Performance Standard’ or ‘Does Not Meet Performance Standard’ recommendation in the Blue Books distributed to all voters before the November 2024 election.  The public hearing is one of several methods that the Commission uses to compile its recommendations.

Any person interested in commenting on the performance of these judges may speak at this hearing or provide a written letter to the Commission.  The Commission will only entertain comments on the above judges at this public input hearing.  Comments regarding judges other than the five currently standing for retention may be submitted to the Colorado Office of Judicial Performance Evaluation through its website for consideration during future judicial evaluations at judicialperformance.colorado.gov/program-feedback.

Letters must include the name and address of the person submitting the comments, and each judge will receive a copy of any letters providing comments regarding that particular judge.  All letters must be received by April 24, 2024.  Please contact Tracey Sogi, (720) 664-151520JDAdmin@judicial.state.co.us, by 5 p.m., April 22, 2024, to arrange interpreter needs or Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations.
