9/13/24 Update re: Notice of Closure of Conejos County Courthouse

Jeff Lindsey Sworn in as Acting District Attorney

Nov. 4, 2024, SALIDA, CO—Chief Judge Amanda Hunter has issued an order, pursuant to C.R.S. § 20-1-108, appointing Jeff Lindsey as the Acting District Attorney for the 11th Judicial District. Mr. Lindsey was sworn in on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, and filled an absence created by the disbarment of Linda Stanley.

On Sept. 27, 2024, the Office of the Presiding Disciplinary Judge issued an Order disbarring Linda Stanley, current District Attorney for the 11th Judicial District, from the practice of law as the result of a two-week disciplinary hearing held in June 2024.

Ms. Stanley appealed the disbarment Order with the Colorado Supreme Court (24SA263) and simultaneously filed a stay on the disbarment Order with the Presiding Disciplinary Judge. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge denied the stay request by written order on Oct. 18, 2024, denying the stay set for Ms. Stanley’s disbarment date as no sooner than Nov. 1, 2024. Ms. Stanley did not file a review for the denial of the stay with the Colorado Supreme Court, and an Order and Notice of Disbarment was issued at 4:48 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2024.

Jeff Lindsey has been the Chief Deputy District Attorney in the 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office since 2021. He is the only candidate running for the position of District Attorney for the 11th Judicial District in the 2024 election. Lindsey has been an attorney for 29 years and a prosecutor for 27 years. He earned his B.A. from Colorado State University in 1991 and his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1994.

Colorado’s 11th Judicial District includes Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, and Park counties.
