Respond to a Request for Custody and/or Child Support

Colorado Judicial Branch has compiled all forms required to Respond to a Request for Custody and/or Child Support.

When to Respond

  • You must respond within 21 days of receiving the Petition and Summons.
  • That extends to 35 days if served by publication or outside of Colorado.

Where to File

  • Create an account and file online through Colorado Courts Efiling.
  • You can also file in person at the Courthouse. The Court's address is on the first page of the summons, in the top left corner.

Forms

  • Complete JDF 1035 - Response to Petition (custody).

 

File Your Paperwork

  1. File your forms online or deliver them to the Courthouse.
  2. The Clerk (or system) will tell you the filing fee to pay.
