Judge Kotlarczyk (cut-LAR-chik) was appointed to the Boulder District Court bench in October 2024. Prior to joining the Court, Judge Kotlarczyk served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General and Assistant Solicitor General in the Public Officials Unit at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. There, he represented Colorado’s elected officials, specializing in litigation involving election law and constitutional law. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, he practiced law in Denver as a commercial litigator at Reilly Pozner LLP and Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP. Immediately after law school, he clerked for a federal trial court judge in Chicago and a federal court of appeals judge in Denver. Judge Kotlarczyk graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center (2008) and summa cum laude from Drake University (2004).
