Judge Salomone was appointed to the District Court bench in October 2017. There she presided over criminal, civil, domestic relations, and probate cases prior to her selection in July 2025 as Chief Judge of the 20th Judicial District. In additional to serving as the administrative head of the district, Judge Salomone currently presides over post-judgment criminal matters, selected felony matters, and the 20th JD’s recently established Competency Docket, which is a specialty docket serving individuals whose criminal cases cannot proceed due to their experience of severe and persistent mental illness that prevents their comprehension or participation in criminal proceedings. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Salomone practiced as a partner in the Boulder law firm Malkinson Salomone, as a solo practitioner, and as a deputy state public defender in the Denver trial office. Judge Salomone earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1994, and her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1998.
