READ YOUR TICKET IN ITS ENTIRETY (FRONT and BACK) and follow the instructions listed.  See below for more details:

PAYABLE SUMMONS

If you have a payable summons, you have 20 days after receiving the ticket to pay the fine directly to the agency listed on your ticket (Colorado Department of Revenue OR El Paso County Sheriff).  The Court cannot take payment during this timeframe.

If you have a payable summons and choose NOT to pay your ticket within the first 20 days, you may resolve the case without appearing by contacting the First Appearance Center at 719-452-5500 no sooner than two weeks prior to the court date listed on your ticket.  You will be offered a plea agreement and if you accept the agreement, you will pay any fines via credit/debit card over the phone.  If you reject the agreement offered over the phone, you may plead not guilty and be set for a final hearing, at a later date, before the Magistrate.

If you have a ticket, it may or may not be payable within 20 days to the agency listed on your ticket.  Read your ticket in its entirety to determine this.  If you choose NOT to pay your ticket within the first 20 days to the agency listed or if your ticket is not payable, you are required to appear in person to be advised of your legal rights on the court date and time listed on your summons.

NOTE: Once your ticket arrives at the Court, additional court costs are automatically assessed.

NON-PAYABLE SUMMONS

If you have a non-payable summons, this is a mandatory appearance.  You will be advised of your legal rights on the court date and time listed on your summons. Failure to appear will result in a warrant issued for your arrest.
