Provides professional accounting work for the Colorado Judicial Department.
The Accountant I classification is distinguished from higher level positions by performing basic accounting duties and responsibilities.
Prepares, reviews, and/or approves accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, Judicial Branch Fiscal Rules, statutory requirements, and other authoritative guidance. Such transactions may include, but are not limited to, disbursement of funds, receipt and deposit of funds, journal entries, and intra-governmental transfers. Provides phone, email, and in-person customer service to Department personnel, vendors, and customers. Attends meetings and trainings as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
No formal supervisory responsibility. Responsibility for one's own work product.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field, such as finance.
While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to perform repetitive motions, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. May handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously.
