General Statement Of Duties

Provides professional accounting work for the Colorado Judicial Department.

Distinguishing Factors

The Accountant II classification is distinguished from the Accountant I classification by the assignment of more complex accounting duties and responsibilities.

Essential Functions Of the Position

Prepares, reviews, and/or approves accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, Judicial Branch Fiscal Rules, statutory requirements, and other authoritative guidance. Such transactions may include, but are not limited to, disbursement of funds, receipt and deposit of funds, journal entries, and intra-governmental transfers. Performs routine to moderately complex calculations, reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and account monitoring. Prepares routine to moderately complex financial reports. Reviews financial transactions for accuracy and completeness and implements necessary corrective action. Assists in training judicial staff on fiscal rules, state accounting systems, accounting procedures, and statutes. Provides phone, email, and in-person customer service to department personnel, vendors, and customers. Attends meetings and trainings as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities

No formal supervisory responsibilities. Responsibility for one's own work product.

Minimum Education

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field, such as finance, and two years of professional accounting experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to perform repetitive motions, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. May handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously.
