Summary of Job Classification:
The Clerk of the Court of Appeals is responsible for providing for the administration of all aspects of the Court of Appeals. This involves supervising court employees, providing case flow management, and participating in the design, acquisition, and implementation of automation for Court of Appeals processes and proceedings. This position will also develop and implement new policies or policy changes in conjunction with Court of Appeals judges and staff.

Responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the Court of Appeals. Work requires managing and monitoring work performance by directing multiple groups of employees across more than one business function within an organization unit (i.e. benefits), including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, training, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed. The work performed by majority of employees is complex.
Education and Experience Equivalency:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business, public or court administration from an accredited four-year college or university and five years of professional administrative experience, of which two years must have been in court administration.
OR
Nine years of work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education, of which two years must have been in court administration.
OR
Graduation from an accredited law school; possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the State of Colorado; eligibility to practice law before the courts of the State of Colorado and five years of experience with an appellate court and of which two years must have been in court administration

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited law school; possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the State of Colorado; eligibility to practice law before the courts of the State of Colorado and experience in appellate law or a degree in public administration or court administration/court management certification preferred.
