General Statement Of Duties

Summary of Job Classification:
Administers, enforces, and collects all restitution, fines, and costs ordered by the Court in traffic, misdemeanor, juvenile delinquency, and felony cases. Responsible for prioritizing collection of restitution, client stability, and revenue recovery. Implements assertive collection techniques with professionalism and integrity.

Employee normally performs assignments after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Fiscal Responsibility:
May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for functional area budget allocations. May monitor division or program/promotional level fiscal requirements.

Essential Functions Of the Position

Administers, enforces, and collects restitution, fines, and costs ordered by the Court.

Conducts complex investigations and skip-tracing using various databases and tools to locate, investigate, and contact persons owing money. Analyzes documentation and other information provided or found through research.

Interviews defendants and associated parties required to pay financial assessments. Determines eligibility and ability for planned payments. Establishes payment plans that mutually benefits the client, courts, and victims.

Assists defendants, public, victims, other court staff, attorneys, probation, employers, and other government agencies resolve complex procedural concerns, account discrepancies, afford resolution options to customer complaints, and other difficult inquiries.

Monitors, resolves, executes, and tracks delinquency using the various collections reports.

Prepares and issues past due notices, attachment of earnings, writs, liens, filing special reports, probate claims, and referrals to private collection agencies. Executes, implements, and monitors authorized collections enforcement actions by collaborating with probation and other agencies.

Assists in the development, implementation, and oversight of local policies, standard operating procedures, and programs for the Collections Department. Evaluates the effectiveness of policies and procedures reporting.

Completes special duties, projects, and tasks. Participates in training and committee meetings.
Attend meetings and trainings as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.

Minimum Education

Education and Experience Equivalency:
High school diploma or G.E.D.

OR

Additional relevant work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience: 
3 to 5 years of experience in client supervision, financially related work, or judicial experience.

Physical Effort Requirements:
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.
