General Statement Of Duties

Develops and implements educational curriculum and technology utilizing current on-line educational practices to provide educational programs for the Colorado Judicial Department employees specific to court services via distance learning.

Distinguishing Factors

This position is distinguished from the Distance Learning Specialist due to the supervision responsibilities required. Supervision is received from the Court Programs Analyst III, Analyst IV, Senior Court Programs Manager, and Court Services Division Director.

Essential Functions Of the Position

Manages the planning and operation of the Distance Learning Program.

Develops implements and maintains the distance/on-line learning technology for the Colorado Judicial Department.

Provides staff with group and/or individual training on the use of distance/on-line learning software and systems.

Directs the effort to identify new distance learning course materials, training concepts, trends and technology for distance/on-line learning.

Coordinates distance/on-line educational technology utilization with the Information Technology Services division, District Administrators, Chief Probation Officers and Clerks of Court.

Monitors technological developments in distance learning, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of promoting educational needs and goals.

Develops new curriculum, agendas, education goals, and objectives specific for distance learning technology and in conjunction with developed court programs.

Analyzes data; creates reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials in a timely manner.

Troubleshoots and resolves problems with distance learning equipment or applications.

Serves on statewide committees for the development of training courses and distance learning.

Attends meetings and training as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Responsible for one's own work product and may provide leadership, guidance, assistance, or mentorship to coworkers including scheduling of work, instructing in work methods, and reviewing work products for a work group. May include formal supervision of less than three subordinates with duties that include scheduling and assigning of work, conducting performance appraisals, providing input into and participating in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others.

Minimum Education

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and five years of online training design and implementation experience.  One year of supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands and fingers to perform repetitive motions; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  This position requires 25-50% travel.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
