General Statement Of Duties

Summary of Job Classification:
Provides expert-level, multi-faceted court operations support to the Supreme Court. Works closely with the Clerk of the Supreme Court to facilitate successful office operations and case flow management. Monitors cases to ensure timely processing and actions. Compiles and reviews case reports. Assists with the development, implementation, and communication of office procedures. Handles more complex case processing and docketing. Drafts, edits, reviews, and issues complex court orders. Oversees and reviews the court's weekly case announcement document. Trains and mentors clerk's office staff. Assumes some duties of Clerk of Court as delegated.

Essential Functions Of the Position

Assists the Clerk of the Supreme Court coordinate daily office operations and case flow management. Assumes duties of the clerk of court as delegated.

Provides administrative support to the clerk of the supreme court, including compiling and reviewing various case reports and processing time. Organizes virtual sessions to live stream oral arguments. Posts updates to the court website. Provides backup coverage for other specialists.

Assists with development, implementation, and dissemination of office procedures. Trains and mentors office staff. Reviews and delegates court's email and fax filing submissions.
Helps process complex case and docketing case entries. Creates new cases, processes filing submissions, and enters appropriate docket information in accordance with the appellate rules. Reviews all submissions for rule compliance.

Drafts, edits, reviews, and issues complex court orders. Assesses case status to determine appropriate case or document routing. Submit cases to justices for review.

Develops and disseminates the court's weekly case announcement document. Shares information and assistance with justices' staff members. Tracks and reviews information to ensure case announcements are accurate and complete.
Identifies and resolves information conflicts. Compiles, proofreads, and finalizes announcements for public release.

Maintains the docket for the multi-district litigation panel. Processes and routes submissions to panel chair. Drafts and issues orders, sets hearing dates, and tracks case progress. Updates panel judges regarding hearing dates and other pertinent information.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing and work assignments. The work performed by majority of employees is semi complex.

Minimum Education

Education and Experience Equivalency:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required.

OR

Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience: 
5 to 7 years of experience in a paralegal or administrative related field.

Physical Effort Requirements:
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.
