General Statement Of Duties

Summary of Job Classification:
Provides support similar to the Veterans Court Peer Mentor Coordinator I and serves as the state-wide leader for veteran programs, develops state-wide standards and goals, serves as a resource and advisor for other Coordinators throughout the judiciary.

Essential Functions Of the Position

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform assigned essential functions listed below satisfactorily. Provides individual Veteran Court client case management, including support services in education, employment, and housing. Aligns clients with third party peer mentoring partners. Connects clients to Veteran pro-social activities in alignment with the client's individualized case plan.

Conducts applicant interviews to collect data for the appropriate Mentee match, including performing a Risk and Need Triage assessment.

Assists the Problem-Solving Court Coordinator with scheduling new client admissions. Works closely with the Veterans Justice Outreach Representative and Probation Officer to develop initial case plans for new mentees.

Manages volunteer recruiting. Ensures mentors pass all required State of Colorado background checks and are trained in best practices and have. Facilitates orientation training and creates and manages online training tools and resources for mentors.

Monitors new mentors during a probationary period to ensure effective and appropriate support for the mentee.

Oversees third party mentor service provides to ensure compliance with best practices and key components with peer mentor/mentees. Attends meetings and provides constructive feedback and suggestions.

Manages the Veteran Court Peer Mentor Corps. Oversees peer mentors’ code of conduct by hosting weekly meetings, collecting input and feedback, and ensures all mentors meet training requirements.

Presents to program and community stakeholders, educating members on available support. Participates and presents at state-wide Veteran service organization meetings, conferences, and focus groups. Serves as a liaison between mentor and public sector communities.

Attends meetings and training as required. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing and work assignments. The work performed by majority of employees is complex.

Minimum Education

Education and Experience Equivalency:
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Psychology, Sociology, or related field.

OR

Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience: 
3 to 5 years of experience in a social work related field.

Physical Effort Requirements:
