The First Judicial District includes Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. There are 34 Judicial Officers in the First Judicial District which includes 14 District Court Judges, 10 County Court Judges and 10 Magistrates. Jefferson County is the fourth most populous of the 64 counties in the State of Colorado.

Clerk of Court Office 

  • The public may enter the main Clerk of Court office Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on Fridays between 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 

The public may utilize the alternatives below rather than traveling to court:

  • Mail pleadings via U.S. Mail to 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80401
  • Leave pleadings in an envelope in the Clerk of Court drop box located in the courthouse Atrium.

Records and Research

The Records counter offers in-person services Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Records counter is closed on Friday.  Customers appearing outside of this timeframe must come back between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday, fill out a records research request form and drop it in the basket located at the Records window, or submit a request via mail or email.

Court Resource Center

The Court Resource Center will be open to the public Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Free Legal Clinics

Free Legal Clinics - 2024 Schedule  

*IMPORTANT: "ASK AN ATTORNEY" CLINICS REQUIRE A WAIVER TO REGISTER (SEE BELOW)

 

You are not signed up until we receive the completed waiver.  We only accept the waiver during an assigned period of time.  You cannot sign up outside of the specified time frames (see below).  It is a first come, first served basis upon receipt of the waiver.  Space is limited.  During the acceptance times, you can email the waiver to  01selfhelp@judicial.state.co.us or  bring it in person to the Court Resource Center located at 100 Jefferson County Pkwy, Suite 2040, Golden CO 80401.

  • FAMILY LAW "Ask an Attorney"  (3rd Tuesday of the Month)   
  • PROBATE "Ask an Attorney"  (2nd and 4th Friday of the Month)
  • CIVIL "Ask an Attorney" (3rd Thursday of the Month)
    • Waivers are accepted the day before the clinic beginning at 7:30 a.m. up until the day of the clinic at 9:00 a.m. First come, first served.  Space is limited

  • If you are interested in serving as a CFI in the 1st Judicial District you must be included on the Statewide Eligibility Roster and you must have identified the 1st Judicial District for appointments. The 1st Judicial District does not require additional application materials.
